Jesus Cross Lent

Presider: We adore you, O Most Holy Lord Jesus Christ, here and in all of your churches throughout the whole world.

All: And we praise you, because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

Presider: Jesus, your life of love now becomes a journey towards death. You bravely undertook your mission of preaching the reign of God and now you bravely undertake the painful slog to Calvary. Yet this slog too is a sign of your faithful love for all of humanity. In the face of sin your love for us compels you onward.

All: Lord Jesus, as you take up your cross our spine shivers. We wonder whether we are ready to love as fully as you have. You show us the way to persevere in love. Yet, our sinful inclination distracts us from doing so. Help us embrace the cross of loving—even when it hurts. We thank you for your perfect example even in the face of death!
