Station 11: Jesus Is Crucified

Presider: We adore you, O Most Holy Lord Jesus Christ, here and in all of your churches throughout the whole world.

All: And we praise you, because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

Presider: Jesus, what a wicked turn of events in such short a time. You’ve become just like so many throughout history who undergo capital punishment. It isn’t the electric chair, lethal injection table or gas chamber of today but the gruesome cross of the Roman Empire.  You were not born for this kind of end but as our elder brother this is the length that you have gone for us; to pay the price for our sin.

All: Lord Jesus, we use the cross as jewelry around our neck and as decoration for our walls.  But seeing you this way, reflecting on this historic event, we are at a loss for words.  You were nailed to a cross like a convicted felon is strapped into the electric chair.  We have come to the point were we cannot see with our reason; why, why why?  Help us to see your crucifixion with the eyes of love!  Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice!
