Station 1: Jesus Is Condemned to Death

Presider: We adore you, O Most Holy Lord Jesus Christ, here and in all of your churches throughout the whole world.

All: And we praise you, because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.

Presider: Jesus, your life of love takes a turn at the hands of Pilate. The message you were given to preach—and the message you were unwilling to stop preachingcaused certain hearts to harden against you. You were born as the culmination of all of creation and yet now you are condemned to die as if you were a common criminal.

All: Lord Jesus, as we look back into history and reflect upon your passion, our reason fails to grasp what it all means. Help us to understand who you were, what happen to you and why your society turned against you so quickly. Thank you for your generous life and for coming among us as our elder brother: the masterpiece of creation!
